Preparing for Winter Checklist

  • To prevent pipes from freezing and bursting, the pipes that feed exterior water spigots should be drained. Similarly, the valve that supplies water to the outdoor water spigots should be turned off and the spigot opened to let all of the water flow out of the pipes.
  • A new company called Lawn Enforcement will be doing our snow plowing this winter.  Board member Amy Shirk is Woodbridge's contact with Lawn Enforcement.  Questions concerning snow removal may be directed to Amy by either emailing her at Amy.K.Shirk.3@nd.edu or leaving a message on Woodbridge's voice mailbox at 277-7287.  Lawn Enforcement will be coming out to clean our street, driveways and main sidewalks when a snowfall is 3 inches or more.  The intent is for the street, sidewalks and open parking spaces to be plowed generally between 6:00-7:00 a.m.  Lawn Enforcement will return around 9:30-10:00 a.m. to finish cleaning the rest of the parking places after most residents have left for work.
  • If you wish to arrange for Lawn Enforcement to clean the sidewalk leading to your front door or your stairs, you will want to contact them for individual rates.  They will only be cleaning owner sidewalks and stairs when they are already on the premises to clean our street and main sidewalks.  You may reach Lawn Enforcement to make these arrangements by calling 574-233-7112.  You will be billed individually for this work by Lawn Enforcement.
  • Air conditioners, especially those sitting under the stairs, should be covered with air conditioner covers made to withstand our winter weather.  Make sure cover is tightly sealed as some ice removal materials may cause deterioration to air conditioning metal covers and motors.
  • On extremely cold days this winter, residents should take extra precautions to prevent pipes from freezing.  A good method to try is to keep the water moving through the pipes by letting a faucet run very slightly in one of your sinks.
  • If you have not already done so, owners with fireplaces should have them inspected and cleaned.  Proof of inspection and cleaning should be supplied to the Board as previously announced.
