Fire Safety and Prevention

Due to the fact that our buildings do not contain fire walls between units, the potential for loss of life, injury and significant damage to individual and surrounding units is great.  Please review the following safety rules for wood burning stoves or fireplaces:
  • Make sure all fires are out before you go to bed.
  • Do not burn paper, cardboard or other unconventional material in fireplaces.
  • Make sure all ashes and coals are completely cold before putting them in the dumpsters.
  • Observe common sense fire safety practices.
  • Do not burn pine or other soft woods.  Only hard woods should be burned.
Additional fire safety and prevention information:

Smoke Detectors:  Working smoke detectors are required in every unit.  In rental units, working smoke detectors are required to be on each level of a unit.
Set a date and mark it on your calendar as a reminder to check the batteries in your smoke detector to insure that it is working properly.

Charcoal Grills or Portable Fire Pits:  No charcoal grills or portable fire pits are allowed on balconies or wooden decks.  This is strictly forbidden by the underwriters of our liability insurance carrier.  Gas or electric grills are allowed.

Reminder:  These rules are designed to make living and ownership in our condominium complex pleasant and comfortable.  To accomplish this, we must acknowledge that all members not only have certain rights, but also obligations to all other members and neighbors.

Thank you,
